Efficiency of PV Systems in the Jordan Valley

The project is funded by the Scientific Research Support Fund of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Jordan.

It's main goals are:
  1. development and evaluation of methods to increase the efficiency of PV arrays
  2. definition of an optimized sizing procedure for PV arrays in the Jordan valley
  3. Predict the effects of environmental and local weather conditions on the performance of the PV system
  4. improved design for the electrical generation system to optimize performance and cost including utilization of MPPT controllers and new inverter topology
  5. continuous analysis of measured data in the completed project as well as in this proposed project
  6. collection of measurement data that will be made available for further research projects
  7. Comparison of performance between the proposed project and the existing one.

First results have been published in Al-Addous, M., Dalala, Z., Class, C. B., Alawneh, F., & Al-Taani, H. (2017). Performance analysis of off-grid PV systems in the Jordan valley. Renewable Energy.

In the context of the project data will be made available for the research community. Please find a first database with temperature and solar radiation data from the project site.
